WATERJET CUTTING AS A SERVICE
Waterjet cutting subcontracting
Waterjet cutting is suitable method for cutting nearly all materials. We cut close to anything with over 30 years of experience. Waterjet cutting is a fast and cost-effective way to cut a variety of materials, both in single pieces and in sets of hundreds of pieces. Muototerä’s subcontracting service provides water only cutting (pure water cutting) abrasive waterjet cutting. We use 2D and 3D waterjet cutting heads up to 6,200 bar pressure.
The benefits of waterjet cutting in a nutshell
- Strict tolerance requirements can be achieved
- Minor loss of material due to effective nesting
- Part finishing is often not required: directly finished product from the cutting table
- No material changes due to heat effect
- Sharp angles are possible
- Material thickness does not matter, very thin and very thick materials can be cut by waterjet cutting
- Complex shapes are possible with 3D cutting (5-axis cutting)
Abrasive or water only waterjet cutting
Depending on the material, waterjet cutting can be performed either with pure water or with a mixture of water and abrasive. Using water alone, soft materials such as thin plywood, plastics, foam, styrofoam, polyurethane, rubber, etc. can be cut with waterjet. Abrasive waterjet cutting is used in harder materials, such as metals, stone, glass, etc. Our cutting service provides the right machine and cutting process for all materials.
2.000 – 6.200 bar high pressure
Depending on the material, scope of the cut, and the desired quality, we always choose the pressure level accordingly. Our professional staff selects the right pressure for fast and cost-effective waterjet cutting process.
2D or 3D waterjet cutting
2D cutting refers to planar cuts, meaning that three axes (X, Y, Z) are used. 3D-cutting refers to 5-axis cutting. In addition to the traditional 3-axis, we include B and C axes that allows the cutting head to be tilted freely. Bevel cutting allows for versatile cutting paths and products for all industries.
Material from Muototerä or client
We keep the most common grades of steel and aluminum in stock. We can cut pieces from our stock material, order the material that needs to be cut, or our clients can supply us with their own material to cut. In all cases, our goal is to use materials efficiently and cut them quickly and cost-effectively.
